While the velocity and magnitude of mergers and acquisitions have decreased dramatically, transactions do continue. The need for strategic acquisitions persists, with familiar technology and vertical market drivers. 90 nanometers, SoC, 300mm as well as entry into specific wireless, optoelectronics and storage markets continue as the most potent drivers. Ms. Johns will discuss general industry trends as well as certain recent acquisitions in her discussion of mergers and acquisitions in the semiconductor sector.
